Through strategic private and public partnerships and significant investments in innovation, Dublin has become a leading community for companies launching tomorrow’s technology—and it’s not by accident.
As part of One Columbus, the economic development arm of the 11-county Columbus Region, Dublin is committed to advancing the social and economic well-being of all residents within the region. Creating an environment where companies have the resources they need to scale and thrive is a core aspect of our mission.
Dublin is uniquely positioned to support business growth through robust access to talent. Our assets include a skilled workforce of 37,000 technology and science professionals and 60 colleges and universities within a 20-mile radius.
Dublin’s investment in digital infrastructure, like Dublink’s 125-mile fiber optic network detailed below, or our Fiber to Every Home initiative that makes multi-gig fiber connection available to every home in the City, ensures businesses and talent stay connected. The city also offers convenient access to regional transportation networks, helping attract talent from across Central Ohio and beyond.
Additionally, our community places a premium on innovation. The City of Dublin uses smart mobility pilot projects, augmented reality exploration, and initiatives that push the boundaries of technology innovation, transportation safety, and quality of life for both residents and businesses alike.
Dublin’s approach isn’t just about adopting new tools — it’s about building a city where innovation improves lives, attracts investment and ensures long-term resilience. Some of the key initiatives making Dublin an innovative place for businesses are truly unique:
- West Innovation District: Spanning 2,250 acres, this district is focused on world-class innovation and research targeting office, research, laboratory and clean manufacturing uses. It offers a unique “speed to build” process that reduces time, risk and money for development approvals. The West Innovation District is geared to meet the needs of today’s development environment and innovative businesses, incorporating economic development strategy alignment, a future passenger rail station, and a mixed-use center adjacent to Ohio University’s Dublin Campus.
“The West Innovation District is a key differentiator for Dublin in today’s technology-driven economy,” says City Manager Megan O’Callaghan. “Just as Dublin has grown and changed significantly over the last few decades, technology and the way we do business has also evolved.”
- Beta District: Dublin has all the resources to help launch and scale businesses, starting with the Beta District where prototypes are tested, tweaked, and honed through collaboration and feedback. The Beta District spans Columbus, Dublin, Marysville and Union County.
With a collaborative spirit and proximity to local and state government, academia, the military, and private sector, the Beta District connects people and companies to the resources they need to accomplish big, audacious ideas. Whether it’s an autonomous vehicle or uncrewed aircraft, a revolutionary telehealth solution, or the next space station, it can be beta tested here.
- Dublink Transport: Dublin aspires to be the most connected city in the U.S., and a big part of that is utilizing the city-owned fiber-optic network, Dublink. The 125-mile, 100 gigabit fiber-optic network is 100 times faster than Google Fiber and connects area businesses and organizations—regardless of industry—to lightning-fast data transport at little to no cost.
The service is not an Internet Service Provider but rather links businesses to two Dublin-based data centers. Dublink Transport’s high-speed connection from office building to data center provides businesses with significant choices of networks, speed, cost, and services.
These are just a few of the pivotal initiatives in economic development and infrastructure that will make Dublin a welcoming, future-ready place for innovative businesses, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to grow, collaborate and thrive for years to come.
One tangible example of an innovative Dublin-based company that benefits from these investments is DASI Simulations. DASI Simulations is leading the future of cardiac care with AI-driven simulations that provide cardiologists with precise insights into patient-specific heart conditions, reducing risks and enhancing outcomes. The company’s cutting-edge technology empowers health care providers to make better decisions, ensuring safer and more successful heart surgeries.
DASI Simulations touts Dublin as a good fit precisely because the community has become a robust startup hub.
“DASI is an essential part of the city’s medical biosciences and health care industry cluster. The work they do is innovative and life-changing for patients around the world,” says City of Dublin Economic Development Administrator Jenna Goehring.
Dublin has invested serious resources to support the innovation economy, and innovative companies like DASI Simulations are already benefiting from that investment.
