The Junior Library Guild settled into its new home in September: Dublin.
Now at 7001 Discovery Boulevard, it was previously located in Plain City. The company, which curates and distributes books to libraries nationwide, relocated to a larger, more centralized space to accommodate its growth and improve operations.
MediaSource, the parent company of Junior Library Guild (JLG), also oversees AKJ Education, School Library Journal, Library Journal, and Hornbook—the latter of which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The Junior Library Guild, founded in 1929, has a notable connection with famous historical figures, including Eleanor Roosevelt, who served as an editor during the 1950s.
“There’s a lot of history within our companies,” said Jon Cahen, the JLG’s director of marketing.
Junior Library Guild employs a team of 15 editors who review thousands of books every year, selecting the best for their 79 categories. Libraries that subscribe to JLG’s service receive these handpicked books, even occassionally before they’re available to the public. The goal is to foster a love of reading in children across the country.
“We’re getting good books that appeal to kids, helping them become lifelong learners,” Cahen said.
“There’s always a book in our collection that resonates with a child, whether they’re a reluctant reader or an avid one.”
The decision to relocate was driven by several factors, including Dublin’s reputation for quality education and the city’s proximity to a skilled workforce. Dublin City Schools are well-known for their excellence, and the area’s amenities, particularly for team-building and entertainment, make it an ideal location for hosting employees.
