Dublin, OH – Dublin City Council unanimously approved an economic development agreement with SportsBrain LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cognitive Ventures, LLC, to expand its current presence in Dublin and relocate its corporate headquarters from Chicago, IL to Dublin.
SportsBrain is a healthcare company specializing in brain safety for athletes, students and military personnel with comprehensive concussion management, testing, therapy and cognitive performance programs.
According to Dublin Economic Development Administrator Rachel Ray, the company has outgrown its current space at the Dublin Entrepreneurial Center (DEC), and has been conducting a competitive real estate search in several other Central Ohio communities for the relocation of its headquarters from Chicago to the Columbus Region.
The Economic Development Agreement proposed by the City of Dublin is a three-year, 20% performance incentive on withholdings collected for all employees (2017-2019), capped at $20,000 for the term of the agreement. In consideration, the company agrees to add approximately 21 new jobs in Dublin by the end of 2020. The company must sign a minimum five-year lease and reach predetermined annual withholdings targets to qualify for these performance incentives.
The City has also offered SportsBrain (1) provisioned data cabinet inside Metro Data Center located at 565 Metro Place South with a monthly credit of $608 for a period of two years (capped at $14,592). This economic development incentive is part of the Dublink 100-gigabit program, also requiring SportsBrain to sign a minimum five-year lease in Dublin corporation limits.
“We made the strategic decision to locate our corporate headquarters to Dublin in the Columbus Region because the area offers the right blend of proximity to sports organizations, a strong university system, a robust healthcare network and cost advantages,” said Kristine Gross, president, SportsBrain LLC. “We look forward to growing our business from Dublin and expanding into other U.S. markets.”
According to SportsBrain President Kristine Gross the specific location site in Dublin is yet to be determined. The company will keep a sales office in Chicago.
