Bill Nichols had a moment early in his time at Goken America that he says changed everything. He was walking up to the office, the company was struggling, and he stopped and asked himself a question.
“If you left here today, would you be able to say honestly, truthfully to yourself that you did everything you could to make this company successful?”
He knew the answer was no.
And his mindset, he said, completely changed from that point.
Today, Nichols is president of Goken America, a Dublin-based engineering and digital services firm founded in 2004. When he joined, it was the two owners and six other people.
The two founders both had ties to the automotive industry and met through a common supplier while working through recall-related issues. Somewhere in that process, the conversation turned to why they were doing all of this for someone else.
“We need to create something different,” Nichols told them.. “Somewhere we can build something that people can believe in.”
So they started Goken America in Dublin in 2004.
