(Dublin, OH) The City of Dublin is committed to improving mobility options for residents, visitors and the Dublin workforce. Recently, the Dublin Connector celebrated a milestone of providing over 10,000 rides to the Dublin community since the ride booking service launched in January 2019. With the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the community, transportation options have become an even greater barrier to fill job opportunities and retain employees.
Sponsored by the City of Dublin and operated by SHARE Mobility, the Dublin Connector is a free, safe transportation service for Dublin residents 55 and over, individuals with disabilities and anyone working in Dublin. The Dublin Connector provides necessary transportation options for Dublin’s workforce, eliminating a barrier for many job-seekers looking to work in the community.
“As employers face workforce shortages and seek to fulfill open positions, the need for safe and reliable transportation has become critical to attracting and retaining talent,” says J.M. Rayburn, Planner for the City of Dublin. “The Dublin Connector is an exclusive amenity for workers and employers in the city of Dublin.”
“Transportation is a major barrier to employment and The Dublin Connector helps employees access job opportunities in the City of Dublin that would otherwise require a car,” says Ryan McManus, CEO of SHARE Mobility. “Companies are struggling to fill jobs and offering transportation as an employee benefit helps Dublin employers widen their recruiting efforts.”
Not only does the Dublin Connector have positive effects on Dublin’s workforce by alleviating the burden of commuting, it also helps the environment. Transportation services like the Dublin Connector aid in reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles on the road, in turn decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, accident rates, traffic congestion and the need for repairs to public infrastructure due to vehicle wear-and-tear.
With the current job market, employers have found themselves going above and beyond to find and retain employees. Instead of looking at commuting as a burden, employers can take advantage of the Dublin Connector as an amenity for their workforce. Companies with transportation programs in place see better results in filling open positions, retaining talent and improving employee attendance.
To join the Dublin Connector and book a ride, workers, residents or caregivers can call 833-742-7333, email dublin@ridewithshare.com or visit DublinOhioUSA.gov/SHARE. If you have a friend or family member that qualifies and needs transportation, you can book a ride on their behalf. Businesses are able to create destination profiles at no cost. “Destination Profiles” make it easy for riders to choose multimodal options based on where they want to go. More than 100 destinations are available now in Dublin, providing information about the business, including commute times, pick-up and drop-off zones, and ADA accessibility information. Businesses are invited to sign up at DublinOhioUSA.gov/SHARE.
