The City of Dublin’s Metro Center Revitalization Plan has earned the Specialized Plan Award from the Ohio Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Ohio). The award was presented during the 2025 APA Ohio Planning Conference on Sept. 26 in Toledo.
The Metro Center Revitalization Plan reimagines Dublin’s first and largest office park as a dynamic, mixed-use district that blends residential, commercial, cultural, and recreational uses while enhancing mobility, open space, and sustainability. Rooted in decades of planning and driven by shifting economic conditions, the plan outlines strategies to transform the Metro Center into a walkable, amenity-rich destination.
In 2024, Dublin City Council adopted a goal to revitalize Metro Center and implement the vision, goals and recommendations outlined in the City’s Envision Dublin Community Plan, Metro Center Revitalization Framework and Economic Development Strategic Plan.
“The City of Dublin is taking its next bold step in reimagining Metro Center into a thriving, modern and dynamic district that supports business growth, sustainability and community connectivity. This transformation will revitalize one of Dublin’s legacy office parks, ensuring it remains a competitive hub for innovation, talent and investment,” says City Manager Megan O’Callaghan.
Key highlights include:
- Walking and biking trails weaving through a series of tranquil water and park features
- Sustainable infrastructure that prioritizes greenspaces and energy efficiency
- Easy access to work, restaurants and relaxation via transit, bikes, scooters and more
- Modern office and commercial spaces connected to 100 Gigfiber and other state-of-the-art amenities for today’s workforce
“This recognition from APA Ohio underscores the importance of revitalizing legacy suburban office parks in ways that serve both the community and economic development efforts,” says Director of Community Planning & Development Jenny Rauch. “Metro Center’s location and history make it an ideal place to demonstrate how innovation and collaboration can shape the future of suburban centers and make them an integral, welcoming part of the community.”
The plan was shaped by extensive community engagement, including a public meeting and stakeholder group, and provides a transferable model for other communities seeking to address vacancies, mobility challenges and changing economic landscapes.
