(Dublin, OH) The City of Dublin’s innovative FitBiz corporate wellness program has been awarded the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA)’s highest recognition in the Health & Wellness category: the Award of Excellence.
Launched in early 2018, FitBiz is a health and wellness consulting service offered exclusively to Dublin businesses. To date the program has served 10 businesses with custom solutions to fit the needs and goals of the company and its employees.
Businesses have the option to choose from a menu of programs to fit their current wellness strategy, or work with the City to develop a comprehensive plan. Programs such as fitness classes, educational seminars and health coaching are led by nationally certified trainers and instructors, registered dietitians and experienced health professionals.
“By serving Dublin’s corporate residents and providing wellness services, we continually strive to improve the health of our community in unique and innovative ways, both in terms of employee health and economic vitality,” said Mollie Steiner, a Recreation Services Administrator for the City.
The award recognizes FitBiz for its community impact, achievement, innovation, execution, sustainability, resourcefulness and storytelling. The success of FitBiz represents a joint effort between the City’s Recreation Services, Economic Development, Communications & Public Information, and Volunteer Resource departments.
“Parks and recreation professionals throughout Ohio work every day to improve the quality of life of the people they serve,” said OPRA Executive Director Woody Woodward. “This effort is a shining example of that kind of work, and we are pleased to be able to present this award.”
The OPRA Annual Awards of Excellence recognize organizations throughout Ohio that demonstrate a vision, dedication and excellence in parks and recreation. The awards recognize organizations that surpass standards and make a difference in their communities. The awards will be presented February 5, 2019 at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky, Ohio.
